Tuesday, the 13th, was my first day on the job. We were sworn in at 8:30am, just before the first meeting of the day (Forest Preserve District). It was just enough pomp and circumstance to feel official but it didn't go too long. In fact, the whole morning went by extremely quickly.
I was recently on the local political radio talk show, Left, Right, and You. Thank you to Jeff and Larry for having me on the show. Their show is a good way to hear about local and state political issues and candidates. It's a service to the community to have broadcasts like this, and going forward I would love to see more shows pop up that cover the levels of local government: County, Township, and Municipal.
The results are in and they have confirmed what we knew all along: District 24 is ready for change! We are ready for a new and fresh voice that will represent the people to the fullest. We are ready to leave behind “politics as usual" in favor of some of the best that the younger generation has to offer.
On Thursday, Feb. 25th, I attended the Candidate Forum held by the Elgin Area League of Women Voters at the Dundee Rec Center Senior Center. There were candidates there from many different races, from county to state. Candidates for County Board District 24 went last, and it was well worth the wait!
